War

When you have a son in the military, you experience things you didn't expect.

Before a deployment, you sit together as a family, spending the last few minutes before he leaves for the airport. You're not going to see him for six months. Maybe you just sit and talk. We played a card game our family likes playing. You just spend the time together. There are no grand speeches. No solving the world's problems. No condemnation of politicians who send boys to die as distractions. Just time together. The last 15 minutes mostly in silence. We depart for the airport early.

Today, maybe I'll not see him again, ever.

My. Heart. Hurts.

I want to write a long post about how evil politicians are.

About the folly of sending American boys to die for Israel.

To extol revolution over war.

But, it's more important that I focus on mercy and grace, and hope and love.

I renounce war and proclaim peace.
